" Movements wich are never alike.", Henry Van de Velde
VIDEO, October 2011

Movements wich are never alike. is a site-specific work that was made for the exhibition “Anonymously yours”, Maison Grégoire, Brussels.

Text about the work:
The hand that draws the line is a reflection of the energy that the hand has yielded. By the fact that I draw lines on glass, it is, depending on which side of the window where you stand, a positive or a negative line. The film captures the light.

In the houses of Henry Van de Velde is glass not used in order to open the house to the city. Glass just brings light into the home to get them to a dream-like aquarium to conjure.
The houses are images of Domesticity and screens the residents off the ugly large city. (from: "Henry Van de Velde, living as a work of art, a living place for art", Steven Jacobs, p. 20 Leuven, Belgium, 2005)

The movie consists of 2 parts that are presented next to each other.
In the first part you look from the outside to a constructed reality occurring within. An organic stone is inward backfired. The windows are folded inward.
In cotrast is the window in the second film folded out. The film is a succession of pictures taken from the inside out. On the window are architectural structures of the interior drawn.

Both perspectives show the relationship of Van de Velde with nature. His designs are based on organic motifs. On the one hand he lays the nature on to its environment and, on the other hand, he puts the soul in nature.

By dispaying the interior outdoors, the personality was shown to the outside world.
